Student Group Holds Conference on “False-Flag Terrorism”

AUSTIN, Tex. April 30, 2007 -- The University of Texas student group, Project for a New American Citizen (PNAC), put on a two-day conference on April 14-15 entitled “Rebuilding America’s Senses: Exposing False-Flag Terrorism to prevent a new 9/11.” One of PNAC’s goals in putting on the event is to help prevent Americans from becoming “slaves of fear” once again the next time a horrific televised terror attack occurs.

“False-flag terrorism” is a publicized criminal act of violence against police, military, or other unsuspecting victims, which is blamed on a group or individual who did not in fact commit the crime. “False-flag” attacks are committed in order to achieve some political or economic objective (like all forms of terrorism), but “framing” a convenient scapegoat makes this form highly effective for the terrorists. Conference speakers tried to shed light on known “false-flag” attacks over the years and explained why they believe the 9/11 crimes have been blamed on the wrong bad guys.

Speakers included researcher Webster G. Tarpley, author of Synthetic Terror: Made in the USA and co-author of The Unauthorized Biography of George Bush. Dr. Bob Bowman, a candidate for the U.S. Congress, also spoke at the conference. Dr. Bowman has a PhD in Aeronautics & Nuclear Engineering from Cal Tech (Pasadena, Calif.) and during the 1970s directed the Department of Defense’s then-secret missile defense program (later dubbed “Star Wars”). In 2006, Bob Bowman was the Democratic nominee in the race for Florida’s 15th district, but he lost to Republican Dave Weldon (Mr. Weldon received 125,596 votes to Dr. Bowman’s 97,947).

Dr. Bowman said the 9/11 attacks and their aftermath have been extremely destructive to America, leading to unjust wars of aggression, hundreds of thousands of deaths worldwide, and drainage of billions of dollars in U.S. wealth.

A principal stance in Dr. Bowman’s platform is his call for the immediate impeachment (and timely conviction) of Pres. George W. Bush and Vice President Richard B. Cheney. While Pres. Bush was apparently “out to lunch” during the 9/11 attacks, Dr. Bowman believes officials such as Mr. Cheney behaved criminally in responding to the hijacked airplanes.

Dr. Bowman has years of experience as a fighter pilot during the Vietnam war, and said according to protocols of which he is aware, fighter jets should have been scrambled to intercept the hijacked planes once they were known to be off-course and before they would have struck their targets in New York and Washington, D.C.

The plane that struck the Pentagon at about 9:45 am on September 11 was known to be hijacked 50 minutes before final impact. By a few minutes after 9:00 a.m., planes had already impaled both Twin Towers in New York, and it should have been clear to the FAA, NORAD, and Mr. Cheney, that “America was under attack.” Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta testified to the 9/11 Commission that on the morning of Sept. 11, Vice President Dick Cheney issued directives from the Presidential Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) to a “young assistant,” apparently ordering NORAD to “stand down” and not take any action against the errant plane that would eventually crash into the Pentagon. According to Dr. Bowman, Washington, D.C. has some of the U.S. military’s most heavily-guarded airspace -- So why was this assault on the Pentagon not intercepted and prevented by our Air Force?

Another serious question that has not been well addressed by government investigations regarding the “events of 9/11” is the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7 (also known as the Salomon Brothers Building or WTC 7), at 5:20 pm (New York time) on September 11, 2001. Several hours after the Twin Towers had come crashing down as great poisonous clouds, a third tower in the World Trade Center complex that was never hit by an airplane, Building 7, collapsed perfectly within its property lines. Almost six years later, many Americans are still not even aware of this strange “building implosion” and the official investigation into what caused the collapse remains incomplete.

The official account (according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)’s World Trade Center Building Performance Study #403) remains that the 47-story steel framed structure came down as the result of falling debris from the Twin Towers’ earlier disintegration, combined with internal fires that later resulted. Damage from falling debris harmed the “structural integrity” of the building, and then emergency diesel fuel tanks in the building caught fire. A few hours later, the whole thing, this modern steel high-rise, just came down in a swirl of pulverized matter.

With his usual style of rabble-rousing oratory, radio talk show host and filmmaker Alex Jones listed reports and evidence he has compiled that “prove” World Trade Center Building 7 was intentionally demolished. Mr. Jones says he is aware of over 100 firefighters and police who are on record saying they received orders to evacuate Building 7 early in the afternoon. Some officers are on tape telling the public to stand back and move away from Building 7 because they were told it was going to come down soon.

Larry Silverstein, who became the leaseholder of the World Trade Center complex just a few months before the attack, recounted on the September 2002 PBS documentary “America Rebuilds,” that it didn’t look like Building 7 was going to be able to keep standing, so orders were given by officials to “pull it” and WTC 7 came down soon after. “Pull it” is a term used in the demolition industry meaning to “bring down” or “demolish” a building, although Mr. Silverstein has since claimed by the term “pull it,” he meant to “pull” emergency workers from the building.

Many people who have seen the video footage of the destruction of WTC 7 agree that it looks like an expert demolition job. Video shows the building collapse at near-freefall speed, with a central column collapsing first (so that gravity would pull the rest of the falling structure down toward the center to prevent damaging surrounding structures), and “squibs” of smoke appearing in succession before the structure was converted into a cloud of debris.

Dr. Steven E. Jones, a physics professor who taught at Brigham Young University until 2006, has been investigating the destruction on 9/11 for the last two years. In November 2005, he published a report on the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7. Using evidence from the crime scene gathered independently, Mr. Jones’ experiments indicated the presence of chemical compounds (such as thermite and sulfur) in the debris that are used in building demolitions and wouldn’t be present after a fuel fire.

According to Professor Jones, the 9/11 Commission report did not mention the collapse of WTC 7, and in the appendix to the FEMA report issued in May 2002, investigators admit, “… the best hypothesis [fires bringing the building down] has only a low probability of occurrence. Further research, investigation, and analyses are needed to resolve this issue.”

In August 2006, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) responded to Dr. Steven Jones’ report and attempted to refute his conclusions. A report from NIST is due out in 2007 and it will attempt to explain the sudden destruction of Building 7. At this time, Professor Jones reported that NIST refuses to release any photos or evidence they are using as a basis to produce the report.

Salomon Smith Barney (a subsidiary of Citigroup, Inc.) occupied most of the upper floors of World Trade Center Building 7. Interestingly, the structure also housed a variety of powerful and secretive government agencies, such as the Central Intelligence Agency, Secret Service, Department of Defense, and Internal Revenue Service, as well as Mayor Rudolph Giuliani’s Office of Emergency Management.

The Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) also occupied three floors in WTC 7. At the time, the SEC was doing criminal investigations into the financial doings of executives at Enron, MCI WorldCom, and Global Crossing during the dot-com boom and bust. Unfortunately, many of the original records for these important investigations were destroyed when Building 7 blew up late in the afternoon that Tuesday.
